Here are some of the important dates set by the State Board of Elections around the presidential elections in 2008:

Dec 3, 2007 - Deadliine to certify candidacy for primary
Jan 22, 2008 - Close of voter registration for the primary
Feb 5, 2008 - Deadline to request absentee ballot by mail or fax for the primary
Feb 12, 2008 - Primary election day
Feb 25, 2008 - Voter registration reopens
Oct 14, 2008 - Close of voter registration for the general
Oct 28, 2008 - Deadline to request absentee ballot by mail or fax for the general
Nov 4, 2008 - General election day
