I chose the campaign slogan “Building Bridges” because my district bridges two counties, but also because I’ve seen too much division in government. I believe we get the most done when we work together. Education is a top priority for me – it’s important we invest in public education to build a strong community. We need to ensure funding is at the appropriate level to close the achievement gap and also fund high quality professional development for our teachers. The roads, bridges and other infrastructure in St. Mary’s and Calvert counties need more attention from Annapolis. As Delegate, I will advocate for the Thomas Johnson Bridge to be rebuilt in a way that will accommodate the increase in traffic we’ve seen over the decades. We need to ensure that the growth taking place in both St. Mary's and Calvert Counties is in line with our infrastructure. The Chesapeake Bay and its watershed is a beautiful and crucial aspect of our community. Our watermen, our tourist industry and local restaurants depend on the Bay, and we need to ensure its waters remain clean. As Delegate, I will work to ensure policies implemented across the state will keep our land, air and water clean.
