CCDCC Thoughts on Hurricane Harvey

Posted 01 September 2017

As the disastrous effects of Hurricane Harvey have continued to play out over this last week, the Calvert County Democratic Central Committee has watched with great concern and sorrow. Like many of you, our thoughts and prayers are with those in Texas and Louisiana as they continue to deal with this tragedy.

There is no shortage of organizations and foundations that could use financial assistance in helping those affected. For opportunities to donate, sites such as Greater Houston Community Foundation and Help Those Affected by Harvey provide comprehensive lists of donation opportunities. Also important, there are several organizations looking for donations of goods. Calvert County firefighters are preparing to go down to the Houston area to help out the over-worked first responders. End Hunger Calvert County is collecting donation items for them to bring down:

You can drop donation items off at the End Hunger Warehouse, or bring items to the lobby of the Calvert County Sherriff’s Department before September 8th. You can also ship these items and others to organization operating in the Harvey Relief area, or order items on-line and have them shipped directly.

While we send our thoughts and prayers to Hurricane Harvey victims, let’s also send some support.
