The Democratic Party Picnic, from noon to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday at Kings Landing Park in Huntingtown, is a great way to meet one another, find ways to become more involved, meet local candidates, and share ideas with fellow progressives. It will feature hot dogs, hamburgers, drinks, games, raffles and meet and greets. The central committee is asking for people to RSVP again, due to a server issue, to info@CalvertDemocrats.com or 410-414-3660.
Please wear your Democrats T-shirt to the picnic. If you haven’t gotten a shirt yet, a $20 donation will score a one-of-a-kind “join the resistance” shirt. You can get yours at the picnic or club meetings.
The picnic should energize progressives through the county and hopefully bring new volunteers and active voters. Volunteer precinct captains are still needed throughout the county. Email Cindy Yoe at email@example.com to find out more.
To enable all Calvert County Democrats to attend, the central committee will evenly distribute the 2018 central committee meetings across the three regions of the county. Each quarter, one monthly meeting will be held at Asbury in Solomons, one at CSM in Prince Frederick, and one in a location to be determined in the north part of the county.
The next Candidates Academy, at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Harriet E. Brown Community Center in Prince Frederick, will focus on campaign finance.
Five new computers, donated by the local IBEW union, will soon be functional as a phone banking communications stations for candidates at the central committee headquarters.
