The Women’s Club met early in January to gear up for the 2018 election cycle. We’ve got a lot of work to do to get out the vote, but with great candidates on the ballot and a community of motivated progressives, we feel we have what we need in order to Turn Calvert Blue!
The first speaker in the evening was Paula Bailey, Calvert Election Registrar with the Election Board. Ms. Bailey provided all in attendance the information and paperwork each needed in order to become a voter registrant. Now that The Women’s Club is certified, we expect to begin registering voters as we canvass for the 2018 elections. Ms. Bailey also answered many questions about the registration process and provided in-depth knowledge of the election system.
Greg Bowen, a member of Keep Calvert Country, was the second speaker of the evening. Mr. Bowen was there to inform The Club as to what Keep Calvert Country sees as short-comings in the Proposed Comprehensive Plan, also known as the Calvert 2040 Plan. Read an in-depth look at Mr. Bowen and Keep Calvert Country’s perspective here.
The next meeting will be on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 6:00 pm at Adam’s Taphouse in Prince Frederick. There will be a social dinner from 6- 6:50 pm, and the business meeting will open at 6:50 pm. Our February speaker will be Cindy Yoe to discuss the Calvert Democrats’ precinct organization and train us in the use of the phone bank.
