The Calvert Democratic Women's Club was pleased to host a booth at the fun-filled North Beach Farmers’ Market on Friday. Julie Verratti, Candidate for Lieutenant Governor, stopped by to speak about her background and her goals for Maryland as well as to sample beer from the local breweries.

The Club was able to reach many Market attendees with candidate and voter information. Kids loved the small flags for Memorial Day Weekend (thanks to Harriet Gossett for providing) and parents loved the re-usable grocery bags, water bottles, drawstring bags and coffee mugs.

Women’s Club members and candidates for the Democratic Central Committee: Jeanette Flaim, Missy Miller, and Helenmary Ball; helped run the booth along with candidate for office, Holly Budd. Several other Calvert County candidates stopped by to help out and talk to voters: Jason Fowler, Tammy Fowler, Matt Bennett, and Rick Piereck. We thank them for all their hard work and help, and a big thanks to all who came out.

Don’t miss the next events: Calvert’s Green Expo and End Hunger Dragon Boat Festival. The Women’s Club could use help at the Expo at Annmarie Gardens on June 2nd, especially from 3pm to 5pm. And we’re still looking for a whole slate of volunteers for the Dragon Boat Races at the North Beach Boardwalk on June 9th from 7:30am to 3:30pm. If you can volunteer at either event, please contact Jeanette Flaim by email or text 301-938-2902. If you can’t volunteer, still stop by and just say hello.
