Calvert County Democratic Women Discuss 2018 Elections and More

Posted 14 July 2017CCDWC

The July meeting of the Calvert County Democratic Women’s Club was held on July 11th at Adam’s Taphouse in Prince Frederick. The final scholarship recipient, Crystal Gray, received her grant and spoke about attending St. Mary’s College in the fall to begin work towards a science degree. The Women’s Club wish Crystal a successful college career.

Mr. Greg Brown, former chair of the Calvert Democratic Central Committee, spoke enthusiastically to The Club about preparing for the 2018 elections. His message was: Think Precinct. Mr. Brown explained how important it is for Calvert Democrats to start building out a ground effort, and that means organizing at the local level. We will begin getting teams together in each precinct so that neighbors can talk to neighbors and encourage one another to stay engaged throughout the election cycle and make sure every one of our democratic neighbors gets to the polls on election day. To volunteer, or for more information about precinct organization, contact Cindy Yoe: or sign up here.

The next meeting of the Democratic Women’s Club will be on Tuesday, August 1st at 6:30 PM Adam's Taphouse, Prince Frederick. One of our Club's newest members is Yvonne Remz, PT, MTC. She has agreed to speak on "Anxiety and Stress Release Management." Many of us wake up every morning stressed and feeling overwhelmed because there is a new disaster for our country resulting from our Republican President and Congress. Ms. Yvonne Remz will be helping to identify mechanisms for dealing with these issues. There will be participant involvement. Don't miss this meeting. Perhaps she can help us all get through the next 3.5 years.
