At the last Calvert County Women's Democratic Club meeting, Club members discussed the upcoming Picnic and Silent Auction event to be held on September 5th that will raise money for the Club's Scholarship Fund as well as the fundraiser at the upcoming county fair at the end of the month. A signup form was distributed for members to volunteer to create baskets for these events and donate items to be included in baskets, including gift cards to local businesses. Club President Renee LaFayette let everyone know that the "Join the Resistance" t-shirts made by the Central Committee were now available, and many members made donations to get a t-shirt.

Afterwards, Yvonne Remz, who specializes in integrative manual therapy and runs her own practice in Calvert, spoke to the Club about ways to reduce stress that anyone can practice on their own. Club members tried a few of these methods during her presentation, which included deep breathing and ways to calm the body's natural "fight or flight" response.
