Primary Pre-Election Rally with Congressman Hoyer

CCDCC

Join Congressman Steny Hoyer and Many Other Democratic Candidates on June 23rd!

The Democratic Central Committee is hosting a Pre-Election Rally on Saturday, June 23rd at Democratic Headquarters in Prince Frederick from 12-2 p.m. Joining us will be Congressman Steny Hoyer, Maryland Senate President Mike Miller and candidate for governor Rushern Baker. Many local Democratic candidates will also be attending.

Don't miss this chance to enjoy some free food and good company with fellow Calvert Democrats and leaders in our community and state. There will also be several opportunities to learn more about upcoming volunteer opportunities. This will likely be our last chance to get together before the Primary elections on June 26th, and there's plenty of work to be done leading up to the Primary and beyond.

If you plan on attending, please RSVP to the event's Facebook page so we can be sure to have enough food and drink for everyone. Hope to see you there!

Candidate Forum Highlights

Posted 20 April 2018

The Riverside Club, Asbury Solomons’s Democratic Club, hosted a well-attended candidate forum last week. Among those who participated were candidates from District 1: Tricia Powell and Ted Haynie; District 2: Susie Hance-Wells; District 3: Holly Budd; Candidates At large: Greg Brown, Joe Johnson, Duwane Rager, and Matt Bennett. Each candidate was given five minutes to introduce themselves and share their priorities for Calvert County.

CCDCC Forum

The event was hosted and moderated by Paula Willoughby, Chair of the Riverside Club Steering Committee. She explained that while commissioners register in their district or at large, all Calvert voters will vote for all commissioners. When you go to the polls on November 6th, you will be voting for five commissioners: one from each district plus two at-large.

Afterwards the candidates and the audience enjoyed refreshments provided by the Club while the candidates made themselves available for a “meet and greet.” Audience members mingled with the candidates and were able to ask them questions and get to know them better.

Phone Banking

CCDCC Phone Banking

The Calvert Democratic Club is reaching out to registered Democrats who voted in 2016 but not in 2014 to see what issues matter to them and encourage them to come out for this year's mid-term elections. If you've never made calls before, don't be afraid to give it a try. We know it can seem intimidating, but it's also rewarding to talk to fellow Democrats who are fired up about what's going on locally and nationally. Several volunteers have said it was easier than they thought and that any nervousness faded away quickly. And remember that you won't be making calls alone, and that someone will be there to walk you through any issues. A new volunteer can get trained on the system and ready to make calls in about 10 minutes. There are a lot of Democrats who didn't vote in 2014 that we need to get in touch with, so even if you can only sign up for one session a month, or can only make it for an hour, please consider pitching in.

The Club will be hosting two sessions a week - Sundays from 12-2pm and Wednesday evenings from 6-8pm at Democratic Headquarters in Prince Frederick. You can sign up for this session here.

If you have any questions about phone banking, please email calvertdemclub@gmail.com

Consider Giving Some of Your Time to Turning Out the Vote

Posted on 25 August 2017CCDCC

With the 2018 elections fast approaching the Central Committee is in need of volunteers to turn out the vote in Calvert County! While the CCDCC always operates with a volunteer force managing the Headquarters, running food drives, and performing various community outreach programs, election years present a great many more tasks. We need volunteers to staff information booths at community events and at polls on election days. With over 35 thousand registered Democratic or unaffiliated voters to get in touch with in the next year, the Calvert Democrats need people to begin phone-banking and door-knocking right away. If we are going to turn out a democratic election in Calvert County in 2018, we need to start canvassing now. If you can spare a few hours a week to this, please get in touch with us right away.
