2025 Goldstein Miller Phipps Gala

The Calvert County Democratic Party invites you to the 2025 Goldstein Miller Phipps Gala! Join us on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at The Hall at Huntingtown, in Huntingtown, MD. The evening will begin with a cocktail hour starting at 5:30 pm, with dinner at 6:30 catered by the local favorite Dreamweaver Cafe. The program will begin at 7:30 where we will honor estimable Democrats serving in Calvert County as well as featuring our keynote speaker the honorable Congressman Steny Hoyer.

The Goldstein Award is given annually to honor the memory of Louis L. Goldstein. When selecting a Democrat to be the recipient of this award, we remember the qualities of honesty, decency and hard work that he embodied. We are excited to announce that this year’s Goldstein Award is being presented to Mike Shisler.

The Miller Award is given each year in honor of Thomas V. “Mike” Miller, Jr. Senator Miller dedicated his life to the betterment of our state through public service. The recipient of his namesake award is a Democratic elected official who reflects that same stalwart commitment to ensuring a stronger State for all its citizens through public service. This year we are excited to announce that we will be honoring Clerk of the Circuit Court, Kathy Smith.

For the first time, the Margaret H. Phipps award will be given to honor a Calvert County woman who works tirelessly in service to the people of Calvert County and who values community service, attention and care for their neighbors. This year we are pleased to announced that the inaugural Margaret H. Phipps award will be presented to Grace Minakowski.

Our Dan Pike Volunteer Of The Year Award is given to those who truly stand out among our volunteer team. Who always answers the call to step up and reach out to voters however is needed. We would never be able to function without our volunteer team, and these individuals truly have been indispensable. This year’s Volunteer of the Year award winners are Charlotte Hawks and Mervin Jones.
