Join the Calvert County Democratic Central Committee

The Calvert County Democratic Central Committee announces its immediate solicitation of candidates to fill a vacancy on the Calvert County Democratic Central Committee.

Candidates must be registered Democrat, reside in Calvert County, and identify as either male or non-binary. This vacancy on the Calvert County Democratic Central Committee is specifically for the Third Commissioner District, meaning all applicants must be a resident of the Third District in order to be considered. The CCDCC is organized as such that each of the county’s three voting districts have a male and female identifying member (or non-binary) and four members At-Large. In order to ensure the Third District is properly represented, this current vacancy will need to be filled by an applicant from the Third District. If you are unsure which district you reside in, please use the Maryland State Board of Elections Voter Lookup Tool to search for your Commissioner District. Also, as per state party bylaws, we must maintain a gender balance of members on the committee, because of this, only male or non-binary identifying candidates will be considered for this vacancy. Candidates may also apply by mailing the required documentation to PO Box 2063, Prince Frederick, MD 20678. The deadline to apply is the end of the day on Wednesday, October 18th.

Candidates will be required to be interviewed at a public meeting of the Calvert County Democratic Central Committee. The meeting will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at 7:00 pm at Adam’s Taphouse and Grill. Candidates will be called in alphabetical order and provided two (2) minutes to speak. Once the interviews have been completed, the Committee will enter into a closed session. Upon the conclusion of the closed session, a public vote will be held. The candidate receiving a majority of the votes will be appointed to fill the vacancy.
