Starting off, a massive THANK YOU to every single candidate, volunteer, donor, and voter who showed up for Calvert County Democrats in this election. We are forever proud and grateful that you stood up and said loudly and proudly what mattered to you in our community. Unfortunately, some of the results in Calvert County didn’t fall the way we had hoped, and we are also disappointed to see that shake out. Our candidates gave so much of themselves to be our representatives, and we cannot thank them enough for their courage, tenacity, and sacrifice to push against such entrenched opposition.
That being said, we also have a lot to celebrate and be proud of! Obviously the headline nationally is a complete repudiation of Republicans across the board. Democrats won the US House and Senate in historic fashion, as well as the majority of governorships. Locally, we are thrilled to have elected Margaret Phipps for Register of Wills once again, Rick Piereck for Judge of the Orphan’s Court, Jeff Long for State Delegate in 27B, and Kevin Harris for State Senate in District 27, plus Adrian Boafo for US Congress, Brooke Lierman for MD Comptroller, Anthony Brown for MD Attorney General, Aruna Miller for MD Lt. Governor, and Wes Moore for MD Governor.
We will dig into the turnout numbers, analyze the votes and see what we can learn from 2026. See where we made gains, and where we have opportunities to further grow. The work doesn’t stop, we learn and we push harder because we know we can make a difference here in Calvert County. So please take heart, we aren’t going anywhere. To everyone who worked so hard this election cycle, take some time to rest, recharge, be so very proud of what you accomplished, and celebrate the wins we worked so hard for! We made a difference with every bit of voter outreach, every friend you encouraged to vote, every phone call you made, every door you knocked. That was one more person you brought along. So thank you. We will keep the fight going, and we are so glad to have you all along with us.
Calvert County is our home, we will never stop pushing for it to be a place where we all have the opportunity to thrive.
Thank you, Calvert County.
